The project is divided into two parts:Contextual Architecture Study
A building of our choice is studied through observation and literature review on its contextual architecture elements and vernacular architecture attribute in term of culture, construction, layout & etc. Identification and understanding of the mechanism is to be illustrated on a A2 presentation visual.
Case Study Paper
An extensive study of the chosen building is conducted to record a more detailed analysis of the building's environmental sustainability and issues in relation to its contextual architecture elements and vernacular architecture attributes. The further research and analysis are presented in a report format.
Reflection
The various research conducted has given me an insight on the topic of building sustainability. There are many approaches to achieve building sustainability and identification of my chosen building's design approach to wards sustainability has given me the fundamental knowledge of most of them through literature research and analysis. My case study concentrates on the relationship between spatial poetic and the building material in regard to the building's environmental impact. Hence, I was able to explore the various materials of their contribution in this respect. Understanding the impact of the surrounding natural and built environment upon the building is essential to identify its contextual architecture elements and vernacular architecture attributes, This also improves my design consideration and responses toward the different aspects of the site context.
