Architectural Studio 3 Project 1: Journey of The Five Senses

Group Members: Liew Chung Hooi, Danar Jovian, Wee Boon Bing

Spatial organisation is a key consideration for architects in architectural design. The study and exploration of different spatial organization methods is important in design because it informs human occupation, behavior, and experience within architectural spaces. This project is an introductory project to the spatial typologies and poetics.

Along with two precedents studies on two different spatial organization, the project demands two memorial design proposals on two events.  The events are namely the loss of Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and the military stand-off between Malaysia and the Sultanate of Sulu at Lahad Datu. The precedent studies inspired the conscious consideration of the memorial spatial organization and poetics in relation to human scale, natural light, materiality and texture. Both memorials illustrate the legacy and impression of the events to the next generation and the memorials are the translation of the narratives of the events.
