Project 3: Dream Space

Stephen Hawking, an astrophysicist, is considered as one of the smartest man. After diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, he never ceased to give up on his research but recently, he suffered from breathing difficulties that are accustomed with his condition in its final stage, before everything comes to an end for him. He has yet to give in.

Stephen's Story inherits Stephen's legacy and spirit - never gives up. The water feature on the exterior represent his spirit, the water keep flowing albeit slow and weak at the end. The stories of Stephen is simplified into a climax and a decline. The space within is designed to cater for his daily life before his final moment. A soothing yet functional space.

To design is to transform the given space into a better space with purpose. Therefore, design has to start from inside out. The interior space informs the exterior form in relation to the surrounding environment. My biggest mistake in this work is that I have reversed the order. To design is to develop the initial inspiration into a whole new concept and from there, a physical form is eventually formed.
